Excellence Awards
The AKRƆ Excellence Awards
The AKRƆ Excellence Awards Platform seeks to identify and recognize the impact and influence of today's trailblazers within Teshie and the GaDangme communities as part of activities to round-off the Teshie Homowo Festival.
This Platform is grounded on the philosophy that when individuals realize that their contributions, sacrifice, and efforts are being valued and held in high esteem by their respective societies there is a massive boost to their egos and personal satisfaction leading to a stronger resolve to raise the bar of excellence to further heights. Concurrently, the awards serve as an impetus for the next generations, for whom these achievers are a role model, to strive for even higher levels of excellence.
However, for far too long, no local platform has ever been created to acknowledge and honour our hard-working native trailblazers of international acclaim who have kept the flag of Teshie and the GaDangme Communities aloft in the comity of nations. These trailblazers include both individuals and entities that have excelled in their academic or professional fields as distinguished academics, medical doctors, engineers, scientists, lawyers, industrialists, entrepreneurs, sports personalities and development partners etc.
Regrettably, an awful lot of these unsung and indeed unrewarded GaDangme heroes have passed on to eternity without being acknowledged and honoured by their revered communities. For the sake of these unsung heroes a post-humus award category has been created as part of theAkrɔ ExcellenceAwards.
It is the primary goal of AKRƆ Excellence Awards to formally acknowledge and celebrate the noteworthy contributions and exceptional work of all these past and present GaDangme heroes and entities that have excelled in their own respective fields and professions and have as well exhibited extraordinary performance, innovation and determination.
Past recipients of the Awards include: Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills (Former First), Professor Emmanuel Martey (Former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana), Ebenezer Mensah Lartey (Ataa Mensah ofAdabraka Drama Troupe Fame) David Kotei Poison (WBC Featherweight Laureat) NiiAdzei Kraku II (Tema Mantse) Obonu TV, LATENU Radio, GaDangme Europe among others.
Akrɔ Excellence Awards are in 8 distinct categories namely; Arts & Entertainment, Trade & Industry, Academic Orientation, Sports, Community Development, Media Excellence, Senior Citizenship and the discretionaryAkomfra FlagshipAwards.
