Presbyterian Church Teshie Nungua Area

On behalf of the Teshie District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, I extend our warmest greetings of solidarity as we prepare to celebrate our annual Homowo festival.

Homowo is a Festival celebrated amongst the Ga tribe of the country Ghana beginning from May till September of every year. Like any other festivals, Homowo is a time to take stock of the past year while forecasting for the ensuing year. It is also a period of reconciliation, jubilation and fun-fair.

For any festive occasion to be meaningfully enjoyed, the members/celebrants, for this occasion, citizens of Teshie, must be united on all fronts. Unity, as the saying goes, breeds development and progress, and this is emphasized by the theme for this is emphasized by the theme for this occasion, “UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL”. This cannot be over emphasized as we all know the benefits that we enjoy from being united.

To be united, we must acknowledge our individual differences but work towards achieving a common goal for the larger society. Unity requires discipline from all angles of the society. Discipline to adhere to rules and regulations, disciplines to time etc. Let us also note that there cannot be unity without respect. We need to respect each other, i.e leaders, aged and the young at large.

If we want to build Teshie into a formidable town, we must always remember to put aside our differences and work towards achieving our common good of a developed society.

To conclude, I wish to encourage all and sundry, to give peace a chance as we work to build a united Teshie. I also urge the youth to be decorous, peaceful and shun all violent acts during the Homowo celebrations as it is also a tool to market Teshie to the world. This is because we would be welcoming people from all walks of life into our Town during the celebration of our festival.

I wish you God's blessing and pray for an incident free Homowo Celebrations.

Long Live the Ga Tribe!! Long Live Teshie!! Akrc, Madeo kpoo
