Coordinating Director

Jacob Osei Yeboah is multi-talented with creative solutions to challenges. He is an Engineer, Entrepreneur, Strategist, Philanthropist, Social Thinker and a transformational leader.

Jacob has had 20 years’ experience for introducing new technologies that creatively improves systems in terms of Energy Conservation, ICT, Database, Process Control and Instrumentation, especially within the Mining Industry in West Africa..

Trained Electrical Engineer, he began his career with the then Ashanti Goldfields Company, Obuasi between 1996 and 2002. During this period, he worked as Instrumentation Superintendent and then as a Special Projects Coordinator. One of his significant achievements was a review of the company’s operations that led to a very significant transformation and cost reduction from USD320/ounce to USD78/ounce (Jan 2001-June 2002). Ultimately, he became a Board member of AGA Obuasi Mine Divisional Board during his time as the Senior Staff Representative Director.

Jacob later joined Sherwood International, South Africa (a division of Super Group Company, South Africa) as the West Africa Director from 2002 to 2006. This is a testament to broad expertise in logistics and supply chain management in W/Africa mining industry.

From 2006, Jacob’s entrepreneurial acumen was honed fully when he founded his own businesses including VitalSource Ltd - procurement and Logistics Company set up in 2006 that provides consulting services for engineering, oil contamination and filtration, logistics and supply chain management for companies in the mining and oil sectors in W/Africa. VSL in partnership with Bottcher Hydraulics GmbH, a Germany company, design tailored hydraulic systems, consulting and training for mining companies in Africa.

Nevertheless, he also founded Mpontuo Mining Ltd to provide consultancy services and technological and financial solutions to small scale mining industry (galamsey) as he regarded this industry as one that could be harnessed for great economic benefits.

In recent times, he has founded new companies such as HSH Global Ghana Ltd - A vision borne out of his being passionate about how Africa countries could be transformed into a modern state. In 2014, he therefore partnered a Germany Company, HSH Soft-und Hardware Vertriebs Gmbh, to develop, AFRIDAB, a bio-identity database for Africa. The Database software can track the life cycle of persons and businesses for scientific socioeconomic development of Africa countries.

His project research in 1994, on energy conservation in halls of residence at KNUST led to the recommendation of how energy could be saved in Ghana if Compact Florescence were to replace Incandescent bulbs. The government of Ghana in 2007 undertook this project and saved about 124MW of power nationwide.

Following the successful collaboration with the Energy Commission on the “switch off your fridge” campaign during the 2014 World Cup, Jacob led a team of Engineers from America and Ghana in 2014, through concept to develop Synchronised Energy Conservation device for Fridges/Freezers dubbed VITASAFE, with smart grid technology options for countries in Africa. VITASAFE can also protect electrical appliances and reduce electricity bills of consumers without any form of inconvenience.

Born 28th October, 1968, Jacob has been married to Hilda Osei Yeboah since 1996 and have been blessed with four (4) wonderful children – Jacobel, Janice, Jeremy and Jeffrey.

He had his high school education at Opoku Ware School in Kumasi. He was known for his versatility in athletics and sportsmanship; he was a javelin thrower; a triple jumper and a regular player for the school’s hockey team.

He proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology (KNUST) where, he graduated four years later with honors in BSc Electric/Electronic Engineering. In his Hall, Katanga, Jacob’s outstanding contribution to JCR meetings earned him respect. Fellow students regarded him as an astute, discerning Christian leader. He also holds an MBA from Warwick University, UK with a Masters in Global Supply Chain Management from Mannheim University, Germany.

Jacob is also a man of faith. He is currently a Lay Preacher of the Methodist Church Ghana. In 2009, he was given an award by the Lay Movement of the Methodist Church Ghana during the Laity’s 60th Anniversary for his sterling leadership to the Youth. Nevertheless, he also received an award from the Accra Diocese of the Methodist Church in the same year during the Diocese’s 60th Anniversary for exceptional leadership and contribution to the Diocese. He is a former National President of the Ghana Methodist Students Union (GHAMSU) (1991/93), a period during which the Methodist Church experienced unprecedented shake-up as a result of the activities of the esteemed student movement and built a solid foundation for transformation.

He is also a staunch Scripture Union (SU) member and contributes immensely to the Bible Society of Ghana.

JOY’s ultimate recognition for his transformational leadership, Critical thinking and Entrepreneurial acumen was in August 2015 when he was appointed a Governing Council Member of Eastern Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, Nigeria

He believes Africa’s potential can be unlocked for the rest of the world through technology with leadership and character. He has a record of almost always being the first youngest to occupy several leadership positions wherever he finds himself. His leadership acumen is demonstrated by deep insights and a consciousness with which he effectively utilizes and optimizes available resources. He has lots of business traveling experiences around the globe and, therefore, appreciates the importance and contextual contribution of various cultures toward national development.
